ANAD Awareness Week with Alpha Gamma Chapter at FIU
Wednesday, July 29, 2009

During the week of July 13-17, Alpha Gamma Chapter at Florida International University held their annual ANAD week. Each day was dedicated to bringing the proper attention to Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, one of Delta Phi Epsilon’s International Philanthropies.

On the 14th, the Chapter set up tents and tables throughout the campus with pamphlets informing students of what ANAD is about in an attempt to inform and expel any rumors surrounding the disorders. Sisters also covered various sidewalks in chalk with the phrase, “If you're reading this, you're looking down. Hold your head up high!"

July 15th, it was "We Think You Are Beautiful Day" and had Paul Mitchell stylists visit the campus to style hair. In addition, Mary Kay Cosmetics representatives performed free makeovers and facials for students throughout the day. Both hair and makeup was completely free of charge – all in an attempt to continue boosting Florida International University’s student body’s self confidence.

July 16th concluded the ANAD week with the traditional ANAD Candlelight Vigil. Alpha Gamma Chapter was humbled by the tremendous turnout from Greek organizations as well as non-Greek Organizations.

Alpha Gamma wishes to thank Paul Mitchell hair care and Mary Kay Cosmetics, as well as all the university professionals and student organizations that helped make this week possible.

Delta Phi Epsilon International is proud of the Alpha Gamma Chapter’s extremely honorable efforts in raising awareness for ANAD.
