Why Join DPhiE http://www.dphie.org/whyjoindphie en-us Thu, 17 May 2012 09:34:51 -0500 Why DPhiE? http://www.dphie.org/whyjoindphie/whydphie "To be rather than to seem to be" - esse quam videri

Be DPhiE
In today's world a woman can be so many things. You can be a friend, be a mother, be a teacher, or even be the president for example. Delta Phi Epsilon encourages each sister to above all else, be true to who you are.

The mission of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority is to develop in women a social consciousness and a commitment to think and act for the greater good. We assure continuous development and achievement for women through individual attention and smart strategic growth.

Delta Phi Epsilon was formed...

"for the purpose of promoting good fellowship among sorority women... to help... in acquiring knowledge, appreciation, discriminating judgment, and a true feeling of sisterly love through the interaction of sympathetic and friendly natures."
- From the notes of our Founders, 1917

How To Start a DPhiE Chapter http://www.dphie.org/whyjoindphie/howtostartadphiechapter What is Extension?

Extension is the addition of a National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) chapter to the Panhellenic system on a college or university campus, or the establishment of a fraternity system on a campus where previously none had existed. Delta Phi Epsilon is always honored at the opportunity to colonize at new institutions internationally, ever-growing our already international organization.

NPC Guidelines

The following is taken directly from the National Panhellenic Conference website:

The NPC Extension Committee acts as the clearinghouse for both colleges and NPC groups by monitoring the development and/or extension of Panhellenic communities according to NPC extension protocol. This protocol is based on binding agreements followed by all 26 NPC member groups. It is critical to note that NPC groups will colonize only at appropriately accredited, bachelor degree-granting colleges and universities if permission has been granted by what we term the "Proper Authority." The identity of the Proper Authority depends on the particular situation and is described more fully in the materials available for download. The NPC Extension Committee serves to verify that the Proper Authority has granted permission and is also available to advise and assist in the various approaches of establishing chapters of NPC member groups.

Please visit http://www.npcwomen.org/ for more information.

Transfering to a school that doesn't have DPhiE?

If you are a Delta Phi Epsilon sister transferring to a university/college without a DPhiE chapter, please start by completing a Transfer/Non-Continuing form (available from IHQ).

Although you are a sister already, starting a DPhiE chapter for you will follow the same course as another university/college without Delta Phi Epsilon. Please see the NPC guidelines for detailed information. We would love to know if you want to begin this journey at your new school! Please contact DPhiE IHQ, with your questions and your information.

Local campus sorority interesting in affiliating with DPhiE?

Are you a local sorority looking to affiliate with an International sorority? Delta Phi Epsilon has partnered with local organizations in the past and just currently worked with the local Kappa Phi Nu Sorority at The University of Connecticut Stamford to become the newest DPhiE Chapter on campus in fall of 2010! Please contact your Fraternity and Sorority Advisor at your university/college with for more information on the colonization process.

Recent Extensions http://www.dphie.org/whyjoindphie/recentextensions Georgia Southern University - Chartered the Gamma Omicron Chapter
On May 6, 2012, Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority installed our newest chapter at Georgia Southern University. We welcomed the dynamic and passionate women of Gamma Omicron into our sisterhood. This chapter is full of campus leaders and devoted young women who immediately immersed themselves in the Greek community at Southern. 200 sisters, friends, and family came together to celebrate the installation and initiation of Gamma Omicron. We cannot wait to see the great things that come from our newest chapter!

Robert Morris University - Re-Chartered the Phi Upsilon Chapter
On April 14th, 2012, Colony Gamma re-chartered as the Phi Upsilon Chapter at Robert Morris University with 34 founding sisters. This colony has truly taken Robert Morris by storm this past semester. Not only did they tie for first place in their inaugural Greek Week competition, but they also have the highest collective GPA out of all Greek organizations on campus. They also took their colony program to the next level hosting their first ANAD Vigil and Zumba-thon for our philanthropic partners.
